Yesterday my car started grinding when I was braking... I knew my pads were low and I drove on it for about a day. The grinding got worse as I knew there was no pad left and it was now metal on metal. I took my car into Speedy Auto and got it checked out. They showed me bare brake pads and grooves in my rotors from the grinding. They said the rotors had hot spots on them and wouldn't be able to be machined.... that they would have to change the rotors altogether. So I went ahead with the procedure and the bill turned out to be $341.00 for front brake pads and rotors. Is this a normal price for a procedure like this? Or did I get ripped off a bit here?

Doesn't mean the parts are any less quality though as some aftermarket brakes are better then the factory ones.How much do front brake pads %26amp; rotors cost on a 2000 Toyota Camry LE.?they got you a little bit on this one,normal cost on doing that one should have been around 250 bucks total,but you paid their cost on the mark up for the parts also so that's about right for a shop,they mark the parts up ,but it could have been done a lot cheaper than this,considering replacing everything was lot easier of a job,good luck.How much do front brake pads %26amp; rotors cost on a 2000 Toyota Camry LE.?over half the cost was labor, parts probably didn't cost them much over $120.How much do front brake pads %26amp; rotors cost on a 2000 Toyota Camry LE.?yes id have to agree, you got the typical markup for getting it done at a shop they usually can double the price for parts at the minimum. when doing my own Camry i get large box sets of pads that would work out to be 15-20 dollars to put pads on the front tires. but just buying them for two wheels can be 25-40 depending on name brand or just like the general Napa brand which is fine. the rotors range from 40-60 for each all purpose rotor. that's why its a good idea to change or at least check the brakes when they start to squeal. that's the wear bar rubbing on the rotor to let you know. you normally don't want to let the pads get any more worn down than having 1/16th inch left of pad. they are very simple to change just get a manual online for ten bucks. takes about 15 min a wheel and save you hundreds of dollars.

How do you change the front disk pads on a car.?
My front rotors are fine, but the pads are worn down to the point that
they squeak. I am wondering how you compress the pistons that put pressure on the pads to A. Get them off, and B the new pads are thicker, so you have to make room to get them back on somehow.

How to change cs camry 1989 front brakes??
any idea of how to change brake pads on this type of car?How to change cs camry 1989 front brakes??front brake pads are the easiest to do. I simply jack it up put stands in place for safety. pull the wheels, install a 5/16's vacuum hose on the bleader nipple put the other end of the hose in a clear glass container with aprx 1/3 full of brake fluid in the bottom . then i open the bleader valve and gently compress the pad s toward the inside to free up the calipers from the rotors. I close the valve , remove the bolts holding the caliper to the support arms, remove the caliper and tie it up to keep it secured and not pulling on the flex line. the pads are held in by spring metal clips ans simply slip away from the rotor direction the face. now I use an old brake pad against the caliper piston and I use a clamp , open that bleeder valve again and cmpress the pistons till they are flush to the caliper housing. I examine the rotors for ridges but prefer to turn them for at least a clean up 10 thousand's. this insure smooth stopping. install the new pads with disc quiet applied to the backs of the pads where the dirt was not on the old pads and a little anti seaze where the pads set on the spring metal. reinstall the calipers and torque the bolts that hold the caliper on. top the fluid in the master and blead the brakes starting on the wheel furthest from the master (passenger side front) then the drivers front. if done right you have good smooth brakes. if wrong you have spoungy brakes.How to change cs camry 1989 front brakes??http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/090

Honda dealership tells me my rear pads will need attention soon which I later found out is common with this model. Front pads still have 8mm. They just didnt specify how soon? One month? Next oil change? you do know that your front brakes do 90% of the braking while the rear only does 10% correct? if it was true 50/50 the rear brakes would lock up everytime you hit the brakes. on older cars that have disfunctional brake proportioning valves, the rear tires will lock up when you hit the brakes hard.

It's really annoying. I put in new brake pads, but I didn't change the sensors and I'm not going to because they are stupid expensive for a feature thats pretty unneeded. Is there any way to keep this light off for good? It comes on every time I turn on the car and I have to hit the arrow up to turn it to something else.

96 Toyota Camry, changing the front brake pads, she is missing the small screw used to breed the brake to release the pressure from the caliper. A pair of large channel lock pliers will do it if you've got enough grip because it takes a good bit of pressure to move the caliper. Auto parts stores sell the tool to do it with. As brake fluid ages it becomes contaminated with water. The boiling point of the fluid drops dramatically and increased brake petal pressure is a direct result.
