How much to replace front brake pads and cracking drive belt?

After my 2006 Nissan Sentra was serviced and oil changed, I noticed that on the invoice, the mechanic made a note that my %26quot;front brakes are at 5%%26quot; and that the %26quot;drive belt was cracking.%26quot; he noted that these should be fixed very soon and stated that the price for the front brake pads was $590 and dive belt was $175.

Is it me or is it really ovepriced? I thought that it cost around $100-$200 for front brake pads per axle, parts and labour. I don't know about the drive belt, though.

How much would it really cost? What does %26quot;at 5% mean%26quot; - does it mean that at 0%, they stop working?

Any opinions on this would be appreciated. Thank you.How much to replace front brake pads and cracking drive belt? That's way to high for a front brake pad replacement. It should be around 100 to 200 for that.

For the whole job I would say more or less $250.

5% means there is about 5% of pad left. Your brakes won't stop working when they are gone but the will grind the heck out of your rotors making the repair even more costly. It is also a safety issue if the pads are gone.
